Am I Still an Artist if I’m Not Making Art Right Now?

Am I still an artist if I’m not making art right now? That question has been on my mind lately. It’s been two years since I created an art series like I used to. This time has been about healing, transformation, and inner growth. Sometimes, I catch myself being self-critical for not producing more pieces, experimenting with new techniques, or expanding my portfolio.

For the Love of Trees: A Journey to Connection and Healing

On a recent trip to Florida, I had the joy of visiting one of my favorite trees: a majestic Southern Live Oak located in front of the Mennello Museum, across from Loch Haven Park. This tree, started in 1688 and now over 333 years old, stands as a testament to time, endurance, and the beauty of nature’s power. Being in the presence of this ancient tree is more than just a visual experience—it’s a spiritual one. The massive branches that stretch to the ground, the plants living among them, and the energy radiating from the tree create a sense of awe and peace that is difficult to describe.

The Journey of "Mi Alma": From Struggle to Healing Through Art

"Mi Alma" is more than just an art piece; it represents a profound journey of healing and self-discovery. It all began when I decided to take professional photos in nature for my website. I reached out to Fernando Samalot, a gifted photographer, who suggested a magical spot in "El Yunque" for our shoot. Surrounded by nature's beauty, I immersed myself in the creative process, using natural clay mixed with water to paint fabric, almost forgetting Fernando was capturing the moment

"Painting Away the Blues: How Art Journaling Works Magic for Your Mental Health"

One of my favorite ways to get creative is through Art Journaling. It lets me unleash my creativity without worrying about a specific topic. I usually set the mood with a candle, some music, and then dive into my stack of magazines, looking for images that catch my eye. The trick is to keep the flow going without overthinking. I pay attention to both words and images, and when I'm done, I add color and text to bring it all together.

Embracing Imperfections: How Kintsugi Inspires Resilience and Self-Discovery

In the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, broken pottery is repaired with gold, silver, or platinum lacquer, highlighting the cracks rather than hiding them. Each scar, whether physical or emotional, tells a story of growth and strength. Embracing our flaws and past hardships allows us to transform them into sources of beauty and wisdom, just as Kintsugi turns broken pottery into stunning works of art.
