Walking Together for Suicide Prevention: A Day of Healing, Creativity, and Community at AFSP Puerto Rico
On September 7, I was able to attend the walk for suicide prevention awareness of AFSP Puerto Rico.
The walk was held on the Jardín Botanico de Caguas, and I was able to do a Creation Elixir session with a group of participants. It was raining, but we adapted, and shared a very relaxing time in the garden, regulated our nervous system, created in community and express with creativity.
The goal of AFSP in Puerto Rico is focused on eliminating the loss of life by suicide, offering prevention programs, informing the public, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and connecting with those who have lost someone to suicide.
As part of the growing national network of AFSP chapters, they bring together people from all backgrounds who wish to prevent suicide in the communities. I invite you to volunteer in you are in Puerto Rico, or donating.
As a member of the Board of Puerto Rico’s chapter, I am incredibly proud of the event and eagerly anticipate the positive impact this program will have in our community.
