Collage Art Journal for Mindfulness
I enjoy doing Collage art journal for mindfulness. The process is simple, and it takes me to me meditative state. First I collect pictures from magazines that catch my attention, it can be images, words or symbols. I glue them down, I paint, I write, i usually add a nature element gathered in my walks. I do this with music in the background, usually a lighted candle, some incense, tea and any other thing that can make this experience a very personal ritual of creative expression. You can watch a video of my process here:
Art journaling is a long-recognised practice within creative therapy approaches and is used to reduce stress, encourage creativity and to problem solve. The therapeutic activity relies on the use of art supplies and techniques without the necessary pressure of a perfect result. The main focus of the art journal is the process.
Here are the benefits I have found to make the effort worthwhile:
• It is a deeply personal expression that you can keep private.
• You don’t need to spend a lot of money to begin.
• The process is beneficial for outworking trauma and stress.
• There are no rules, and you can’t get it wrong.
• Anyone can do this, you just need to give yourself time, space and be brave.
